Who we are

Tax Network is the controller of the personal information described in this notice. You can contact us about privacy by email at info@taxnetwork.uk.

Information we collect

We may collect your name, contact details, business details, tax and financial information, identity information, correspondence, and information needed to provide accountancy, tax, bookkeeping, VAT, payroll and Making Tax Digital services.

How and why we use information

We use information to respond to enquiries, discuss a potential engagement, provide agreed professional services, manage our relationship with you, meet legal and regulatory responsibilities, prevent fraud and protect our systems. Our lawful bases will normally be taking steps at your request before entering a contract, performing a contract, complying with legal obligations, and our legitimate interests in running and protecting our practice. Where we rely on legitimate interests, we balance them against your rights.

Who receives information

We may share information with HMRC and other authorities where required or authorised, and with carefully selected providers who help us run our IT, communications, storage and professional services. We require providers to handle information securely and only for the agreed purpose. We may also disclose information where the law requires or permits it.

International transfers

Some service providers may process information outside the UK. Where this happens, we will use an approved safeguard required by UK data protection law, such as an adequacy regulation or appropriate contractual protections.

How long we keep information

We keep enquiry information for up to 12 months where no engagement starts. We retain client records for the period set out in our engagement terms and for as long as necessary to meet legal, tax, professional and limitation-period requirements. We securely delete or anonymise information when it is no longer needed.

Your rights

You may have rights to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to certain processing, and to ask for a portable copy in some circumstances. You can raise a request using the email above. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.

Website and email

This website does not use Tax Network advertising trackers or analytics. Our hosting provider may process limited technical information, such as IP address and server logs, to deliver and secure the website. Please do not send bank details, government tax references or financial documents in an initial email; we will agree a secure method where needed.
